Abstract: A device (100) for preparation of a cell sample comprises a housing (102), a holding unit (104), a tilting unit (110), a fluid distribution unit (114), at least one coupler (120) and a control unit (124). The holding unit (104) has at least one first slot on a top surface to receive cartridges (106) loadable with cell sample and at least one second slot on a side surface to receive a slide (108). The at least second slot is to place the slide (108) below the cartridge (106). The tilting unit (110) tilts the holding unit (104) to smear the cell sample. The cartridge (106) is to receive one or more fluids from fluid storage units (112) via the at least one coupler (120) for staining the cell sample. The control unit (124) controls the tilting unit (110) and receiving and draining of the one or more fluids based on predetermined conditions.
