MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641108699 A) filed by Velammal Engineering College Autonomous on September 10, 2026, for Autonomous Uav-Based Machine-To-Machine Fluid Transfer System Using Electromagnetic Soft Docking And Sealed Fluid Connection.

Inventors include Dr. J. S. Leena Jasmine; U. Swetha; Nanma Elizabeth Gracious; and S. Pritha.

The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.

Abstract: The present invention provides an autonomous unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-based machine-to-machine fluid transfer system for replenishing a receiving machine without direct human intervention. The UAV includes a fluid reservoir, pump, valve, flow sensor and communication controller, while the receiving machine includes a fluid reservoir, level sensor, docking interface and controller. When the fluid level reaches a predetermined threshold, the receiving machine transmits a replenishment request to the UAV. The UAV autonomously approaches and performs guided docking using an electromagnetic soft-docking mechanism that reduces impact during coupling. A sealed fluid connection is established and verified before transfer valves are opened. The required quantity of fluid is then transferred through the sealed pathway and automatically terminated based on flow measurement. After completion, the valves are closed, the connection is isolated and the UAV autonomously undocks. The system enables unattended and controlled fluid replenishment in remote, hazardous and difficult-to-access environments.scue
