Abstract: ABSTRACT AUTONOMOUS TINYML-BASED GESTURE-TRIGGERED EMERGENCY ALERT WEARABLE WITH INDEPENDENT GSM AND GNSS COMMUNICATION An autonomous emergency alert device (100) and method (200) for gesture-triggered distress communication without reliance on external smartphones, paired computing devices, or cloud-based systems is disclosed. The device (100) comprises an inertial measurement unit (IMU) (105) configured to generate multidirectional motion data associated with movement of a user, a microcontroller unit (MCU) (103) configured to execute an embedded machine-learning gesture-recognition model, a geolocation unit (107) configured to acquire geographic coordinates, and a wireless communication unit (108) configured to autonomously transmit emergency alert messages to predefined emergency contacts. The MCU (103) preprocesses motion signals using filtering, normalization, temporal segmentation, spectral transformation, and feature extraction prior to real-time TinyML-based gesture inference. Upon detection of a predefined covert distress gesture, the MCU (103) sequentially activates the geolocation unit (107) and the wireless communication unit (108) to transmit location-enabled SOS alerts through GSM communication.
