Abstract: ABSTRACT The present invention relates to an autonomous self-healing Roller Compacted Concrete (RCC) composition incorporating calcite-producing Bacillus paramycoides bacterial spores immobilized within porous expanded clay carrier particles for moisture-triggered crack repair. The RCC composition comprises cementitious material, fine aggregates, coarse aggregates, water, porous carrier particles, bacterial spores, and biomineralization nutrients configured to facilitate microbiologically induced calcium carbonate precipitation. The porous expanded clay carrier particles protect the bacterial spores during mixing and roller compaction and maintain bacterial viability within the hardened RCC matrix. Upon formation of cracks and ingress of moisture, dormant bacterial spores become activated and precipitate calcium carbonate within crack regions, thereby autonomously sealing cracks, reducing permeability, restoring internal matrix integrity, and enhancing durability of RCC structures. The invention further provides sustainable infrastructure performance and in-situ carbon sequestration through biomineralization-based calcium carbonate formation suitable for RCC pavements, dams, industrial flooring, and heavy-duty concrete applications.
