Abstract: The present invention relates to an autonomous, lightweight, and modular rover designed for intelligent navigation, accurate path tracking, and reliable obstacle avoidance. The rover utilizes a calibrated infrared (IR) sensor array to detect and follow a predefined path, such as a contrasting line on a surface, ensuring precise directional control. Additional infrared and proximity sensors are strategically positioned to enable real-time obstacle detection and effective collision prevention. A microcontroller-based control unit processes sensor inputs and dynamically regulates motor speed using pulse width modulation (PWM), allowing smooth navigation across straight paths, curves, and moderately uneven terrains. The modular chassis, fabricated from durable yet lightweight materials, ensures balanced weight distribution, improved maneuverability, and simplified maintenance or component upgrades. The system is suitable for educational training, industrial automation, automated guided vehicles (AGVs), and prototype development of intelligent self-driving robotic platforms by integrating hardware and embedded software into a scalable architecture.
