MUMBAI, India, July 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611052569 A) filed by Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham on April 24, 2026, for Autonomous Robotic Ultrasound System, Methods, And Computer-Readable Media Thereof.
Inventors include Agarwal, Kalyani; Verma, Parima; and Tarafdar, Anirban.
The application for the patent was published on July 17, 2026, under issue no. 29/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to an autonomous robotic ultrasound system, a method, and a non-transitory computer-readable medium enabling safe, stable, and operator-independent ultrasound acquisition over curved and deformable anatomical surfaces. The invention may include a geometry acquisition module generating an anatomical surface representation, from which a surface reconstruction module may generate a continuous surface model and compute local surface normal vectors. A robotic manipulator may traverse a surface-conforming scanning trajectory while aligning an ultrasound probe with the computed local surface normal vectors. An optimisation-based force regulator may maintain stable probe-tissue interaction forces in real time. A confidence evaluation module may jointly process probe contact force deviation, probe orientation alignment, and signal attenuation to generate a real-time reliability metric, and an output generation interface may provide a confidence-annotated physiological output.
