Abstract: AUTONOMOUS ROBOTIC IV CANNULATION SYSTEM WITH MULTIMODAL VEIN IMAGING AND FORCE FEEDBACK CONTROL Abstract The present invention relates to an autonomous robotic intravenous (IV) cannulation system for accurate and minimally invasive vascular access. The system integrates a near- infrared (NIR) imaging module (103) and an ultrasound imaging probe (104) to capture superficial and subsurface vascular structures. The acquired data is processed in an embedded control unit (107) using image fusion and artificial intelligence to generate a real-time three-dimensional vascular map and determine an optimal puncture site and insertion trajectory. A multi-degree-of-freedom robotic arm (100) positions a catheter insertion module (101) for controlled needle insertion and catheter placement. A force-feedback sensor (102) continuously monitors tissue resistance to detect vein entry and ensure safe insertion. The embedded control unit (107) provides closed-loop control of robotic motion based on imaging and force data. The system improves first-attempt success rate, reduces patient discomfort, minimizes tissue trauma, and enhances safety and consistency in clinical and emergency IV cannulation procedures.
