Abstract: ABSTRACT: Title: Autonomous Moisture Prevention Device for Underground Cable Connector Joints and Method Thereof The disclosure provides an autonomous moisture prevention device (100) for protecting an underground cable connector joint (10) against moisture ingress. The device (100) comprises a housing (102) enclosing the underground cable connector joint (10) and a sealing unit (104) deploying a sealant tape (106). The sealing unit (104) includes a first bevel gear (108), a second bevel gear (110) having spur gear teeth (112), a driving unit (114), a tape holder (116), and a ball bearing assembly (120). A rack element (122) cooperates with the spur gear teeth (112) to convert rotational movement into axial advancement while circumferential wrapping is performed. A locking unit (124) and lever (134) selectively retain and release a leading end (118) of the sealant tape (106). External moisture sensors (136) and internal moisture sensors (138) communicate with a control unit (140) to initiate sealing operations. An incremental encoder (144) enables completion detection and return positioning.
