Abstract: ABSTRACT AUTONOMOUS GEOTECHNICAL MONITORING AND INTERVENTION SYSTEM WITH CODED HYDRAULIC TOMOGRAPHY AND COUNTERFACTUAL RELIEF STEERING An autonomous geotechnical monitoring and intervention system (100) comprises hydraulic actuators (110) arranged to emit temporal hydraulic excitation codes (140) into a subsurface region (102), and a distributed sensor array (120) comprising pore-pressure sensors (122), strain sensors (124), flow sensors (126), and soil-impedance sensors (128). Processors (130) command the hydraulic actuators (110) to emit the codes (140) with open and close durations bounded by a drainage limit (142) determined for a local soil composition. The processors (130) derive, for each actuator-sensor pair (152), a multi- dimensional transient hydraulic pathway feature vector (150) from a multimodal response and detect a pathway change by comparing the feature vector (150) against a stored historical baseline. Upon detecting the pathway change, the processors (130) simulate and select a candidate relief action according to a cost function subject to a diversion-risk constraint, execute the action, compare a measured response against the predicted response, and halt actuation when a deviation exceeds a tolerance.
