Abstract: Disclosed is an autonomous crop care robot comprising a mobile support platform, a sensing assembly, an imaging assembly, a processing unit, a controller, and an irrigation assembly. The mobile support platform is adapted to traverse an agricultural growing area. The sensing assembly generates soil moisture data from a plant location, and the imaging assembly captures plant image data from the plant location. The processing unit determines a plant health condition from the plant image data. The controller receives the soil moisture data and the plant health condition and generates an irrigation command. The irrigation assembly delivers water to the plant location in response to the irrigation command. The robot thereby performs plant-location-based irrigation and plant health monitoring while moving across a growing area.
