Inventors include Dr. Gopal Rawat; Dr. Deepak Kumar Jarwal; Dr. Devesh Mishra; Dr. Supriya Jaiswal; Dr. Prajna Jha; and Sharad Kumar Singh.

The application for the patent was published on October 02, 2026, under issue no. 40/2026.

Abstract: An autonomous bio-inspired unmanned aerial vehicle (100) comprises a plurality of aerial wings (102) having textured and serrated edge structures (112) configured to interact with airflow at airflow-exposed edges. A flight-control system coordinates the aerial wings (102) to provide hovering, multidirectional movement and rapid heading changes by permitting controlled transient instability and applying successive active-feedback-based aerodynamic corrections during flight manoeuvres. A landing gear comprises movable claw-like gripping members (124) configured to engage a landing surface (128) and retain the vehicle in a perched state, wherein the flight-control system controls a flight-to-perching transition and transfers support from the aerial wings to the landing gear following gripping engagement. A plurality of thin-film photovoltaic solar panels is integrated with the aerial wings and/or body structure and electrically coupled to an onboard electrical power supply (120) for converting incident solar radiation into electrical energy.
