Abstract: An autonomous apparatus for batch preparation of physical printed publications comprises a stationary support defining addressable tray positions that retain the publications, a rail-mounted service mechanism, a local page-access assembly, an imaging assembly, a page-state module and a removable-marker transfer assembly. The service mechanism travels along a rail to a selected tray position and opens the publication in situ. Page-associated data is acquired while maintaining an association among a tray-position identifier, a publication identifier, a sheet identifier and an exposed page surface. A selection module identifies a selected content region, and a marker-location module maps the region to an accessible marker attachment position on the corresponding sheet. A controller exposes the sheet, applies a removable marker, verifies placement and restores the publication to its assigned tray position while preserving publication order. These operations repeat for a plurality of publications without routine user input between initiation and completion of a batch.
