Abstract: ABSTRACT The present invention relates to an autonomous AI-powered water quality monitoring and predictive contamination mapping system for municipal and industrial water distribution networks. The system comprises distributed sensor nodes configured to monitor water quality parameters including pH, turbidity, dissolved oxygen, temperature, and contaminant concentrations. The sensor nodes incorporate self-cleaning, self-calibrating, and renewable energy harvesting mechanisms for continuous autonomous operation. Acquired data are processed through an edge gateway and integrated with environmental, meteorological, hydraulic, and historical datasets using a cloud-based data fusion engine. An artificial intelligence predictive analytics module employing graph neural networks models the water distribution network and predicts contamination propagation pathways, contamination severity, and arrival times. A blockchain-based secure storage module provides tamper-resistant recording of monitoring data and prediction results. A user interface generates GIS-based contamination maps and real-time alerts for proactive decision-making. The invention enables reliable, predictive, secure, and autonomous water quality management while reducing maintenance requirements and improving public health protection.
