MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621091812 A) filed by Institute Of Technology, Nirma University on July 29, 2026, for Autonomous Agricultural Robot For Sensor-Guided Seeding, Irrigation And Fertiliser Application.

Inventors include Dr. Himanshu K Patel; Nisarg Shah; Manal Patel; Kavya Bose; and Vraj Patel.

The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.

Abstract: An autonomous agricultural robotic system (100) includes a mobile chassis (101), drive motors (103) associated with wheel encoders (104), a primary controller (106), a secondary controller (107), a soil excavation, backfilling and levelling subsystem (115), a seed dispensing subsystem (120), irrigation and fertiliser subsystems (126, 137), soil-moisture sensing (141), ultrasonic sensing (145), an inertial measurement unit (149), and a camera (150). The controllers maintain an occupancy grid (130), navigate to a planting location (178), stop the chassis, form a planting cavity (179), dispense a seed (180), backfill the cavity, and acquire a post-placement moisture value. When the value is below a crop-dependent threshold, a water pump (128) delivers a metered dose through a nozzle (136). A separate fertiliser pump (139) delivers a controlled liquid-fertiliser dose after completion of an irrigation state according to a stored fertiliser-control profile. The processed location is recorded, operational data are logged, and navigation continues.
