Abstract: The present invention relates to an automatic fruit ripeness detection system for determining the ripeness condition of fruits using image-based analysis. The system comprises an image acquisition unit, an illumination unit, a processing unit, a feature extraction module, a ripeness classification module, and an output unit. The image acquisition unit captures an image of a fruit under controlled or substantially controlled illumination conditions. The processing unit preprocesses the acquired image and extracts one or more ripeness-related features including colour, texture, shape, and surface characteristics. The extracted features are processed by a classification module to determine a ripeness category of the fruit. The output unit provides the determined ripeness status to a user through a display, indicator, or communication interface. The system enables rapid, non-destructive and automated assessment of fruit ripeness and reduces dependence on subjective manual inspection. The invention can be implemented for individual fruits as well as multiple fruits and can be adapted for different fruit varieties by modifying the corresponding classification parameters.
