Abstract: The disclosure provides an automatic flight control kit for converting a manned helicopter to an optionally piloted or unmanned aircraft. The kit comprises a flight control unit including a flight control computer generating flight control commands, an inertial reference system providing measurement data for six degrees of freedom, and a GNSS receiver providing position data. The kit further comprises an air data unit interfacing with existing pitot static probes, a radar altimeter measuring relative altitude from a landing surface, a communication link transmitting flight-critical data between the helicopter and a ground control station, an actuator system interfacing with the flight control chain to manipulate primary flight controls, a control panel with a master switch and engage switch for transitioning between disengaged and engaged states, and an auxiliary power system providing electrical power independently from the helicopter's electrical system.
