MUMBAI, India, Sept. 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621072653 A) filed by Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune on June 11, 2026, for Automated Ultrasound Probe Decontamination System.

Inventor includes Malik, Maajid Mohi Ud Din.

The application for the patent was published on September 11, 2026, under issue no. 37/2026.

Abstract: ABSTRACT AUTOMATED ULTRASOUND PROBE DECONTAMINATION SYSTEM The present invention provides an automated ultrasound probe decontamination system (1) comprising in physical integration within a sterility dock unit (10) enclosed by an outer dock housing (30) of UV-opaque polycarbonate: an irradiation chamber (11) housing a UV-C LED emitter array (12) of approximately 36 emitters at approximately 270 nm and a concave aluminium reflective chamber lining (14) of greater than approximately 80% UV reflectance; a probe support cradle (16) of UV-transparent polytetrafluoroethylene; a UV dosimetry sensor strip (28); an optical biosensor head assembly (18) carrying three optical biosensors (19) and driven by a pneumatic actuator (39); a central controller (32) electrically coupling the foregoing; an AI-based process verification engine (20) with Support Vector Machine classifier; a solenoid-controlled probe release latch (22) physically gated on the AI classification output; an RFID reader (24); a touchscreen status display and audit interface (26); and an audit record interface (34) for DICOM / HL7 transmission of cryptographically signed disinfection records to a hospital information system. The system delivers a closed-loop hardware-enforced decontamination cycle in which release of the ultrasound probe (40) is physically gated on verification of decontamination outcome, removing operator subjectivity from the sterility-assurance process.
