MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511016964 A) filed by Sanskriti University on February 26, 2025, for Automated Pencil Sharpening Device.
Inventors include Dr. Deepak Kumar; and Dr. Mohit Kumar.
The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.
Abstract: An automated pencil sharpening device, comprising a housing 101 positioned over a fixed surface, a ring 102 accessed by a user to insert a pencil for sharpening process, a microphone 103 allows the user to provide voice commands to sharpen the pencil, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 104 to determine dimensions of the pencil, a motorized iris lid 105 to get closed for securing the pencil inside the housing 101, a motorized gear 106 to rotate on its axis as well as rotates the ring 102 on its axis to maintain its grip on the pencil, multiple inclined blades 107 with a motorized disc 108 to sharpen the tip evenly, a magneto inductive sensor monitors the sharpness of the blades 107 and a level sensor monitors the accumulation of wood peels generated during the pencil sharpening.
