MUMBAI, India, Sept. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611083893 A) filed by Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University on July 08, 2026, for Automated Dry Uv-C Self-Cleaning And Disinfection System For Optical Trial Boxes.

Inventors include Neha Kumari; Laxmi Pal; and Swati.

The application for the patent was published on September 04, 2026, under issue no. 36/2026.

Abstract: Disclosed is an automated dry UV-C self-cleaning and disinfection system for optical trial boxes. The system comprises a rigid UV-opaque trial lens box housing comprising a plurality of lens-receiving slots arranged to receive optical trial lenses. A UV-reflective lining is disposed along inner walls of each lens-receiving slot to reflect UV-C radiation toward opposed surfaces of a received optical trial lens. At least one UV-C light emitting diode is positioned adjacent to each lens-receiving slot to emit germicidal radiation within the slot. A lens detection sensor associated with each slot generates a lens-presence signal when a lens is returned. A lid safety interlock prevents energization of the UV-C light emitting diode when the lid is open. A controller energizes the UV-C light emitting diode for a predetermined dry sterilization cycle only when lens presence and closed lid conditions are detected.
