Abstract: This innovative Smart lemon juice extractor is an automated device, which has been integrated with Intelligent system for monitoring, Adaptive motor control, Safety measures and Hygienic system. It can boost up the efficiency of extracting the juice and can decrease the power required to run the system. It has less human intervention and is safer. Smart automated lemon juice extractor consists of hopper for putting lemons, crushing/extracting rollers which are powered by electric motor, collecting juice chamber, waste disposing unit and intelligent control unit which is composed of microcontroller. In intelligent control unit, Arduino UNO is used as microcontroller. Intelligent control unit continuously reads the data from sensors like load cell with HX711 amplifier for measuring weight of extracted juice, ACS712 current sensor for measuring power consumed by motor and float level sensor for overflow in collecting chamber of juice. On the basis of data from sensors, intelligent control unit controls the motor of crushing/extracting rollers through relay by closed loop control for smart speed and intelligent torque. The system continuously monitors the system, and Intelligent control unit increases or decreases the speed of crushing/extracting rollers on the basis of quantity of lemons put in hopper. It has also feature of automatically switching off the motor if no load is detected for fixed time to prevent dry running of motor and to save electricity. It displays real time data of extracted juice on digital display like quantity of extracted juice, RPM of motor, power consumed by motor and status of machine. It has also feature of rejecting spoiled lemons, measuring weight of two components i.e. extracted juice and waste, feature of preventing overflow and feature of self-cleaning for hygiene. This system provides efficient, stable, portable and safe operation. This system can be applied in domestic, commercial and small scale industries where there is need of automatic system for extracting juice of citrus fruits.
