MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541025405 A) filed by Jain Deemed-To-Be University on March 20, 2025, for Automated Bitumen Sheet Laying Device.

Inventor includes Dr. Anusudha Visvanathan.

The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.

Abstract: An automated bitumen sheet laying device comprises of a body 101 having an imaging unit 102 to generate a 3-dimensional map of surrounding of the body 101, a touch interactive display panel 103 for displaying the generated map for user selection of an area for laying bitumen sheet, multiple motorized wheels 104 arranged underneath the body 101 for moving the body 101 over the user-selected area, a motorized roller 105 installed on the body 101 via an extendable link 106 for positioning the roller 105 in proximity to the surface, a heating element 107 integrated with the link 106 to heat the sheet, a motorized gripper 108 integrated with a rolling element 109 to apply pressure over the sheet, a cutter 110 integrated on the gripper 108 to cut the sheet for detaching the laid sheet from the roller.
