Abstract: This invention is about an electric vehicle (EV) charging scheduling device called AutoChargeRoute, which can be used to charge both EVs and electric bikes. The scheduling device consists of an intelligent device mounted on the dashboard of the EV, including a display screen, global positioning system (GPS) module, battery monitoring unit, communications interface and controller. When the battery charge falls below a user-defined threshold, the charging scheduling device automatically alerts the user and displays the location of the nearest compatible charging stations. Based on the vehicle's speed and battery condition, the charging device can calculate the minimum travel distance, remaining range and estimated travel time to the destination. The device will also allow users to reserve a charging spot and verify compatibility with the charging station before using it. This invention will reduce range anxiety for the EV user and, through intelligent route optimization and charging management, it improves the efficiency of charging and maximizes the usability of an electric vehicle.
