Abstract: Example embodiments of the present disclosure are directed to authentication and key management. In a method, an apparatus determines digest information of a first session key based on the first session key and an authentication management key. The first session key is for the apparatus to protect a session between the apparatus and a network entity, and the first session key is associated with a second session key for the network entity to protect the session. The apparatus transmits, to the network entity, a request for establishment of the session. The request includes the digest information and the authentication management key. In this way, the digest information may be used for the network entity to authenticate the apparatus in a flexible and efficient way. Fig. 1A
