The system includes a controller (106). The controller (106) is configured to monitor inscription surface of epigraphic 10 and document images to measure variations in reflected light caused by engraved characters, cracks, grooves, and erosion. Controller (106) is configured to calculate changes in a reflected light intensity between consecutive observations. If there is a change in the reflected light intensity, then controller generates one or more events (spikes). The one or more events include regular and irregular events. Controller (106) is configured to convert irregular events into structured character 15 representations suitable for SNN processing. The neural processing includes connecting regular and irregular events into neurons. The neurons contain characters of language.
