Abstract: An adjustable counterweight assembly for an astronomical telescope mount is disclosed. The counterweight assembly includes a main body weight and an inner bore adapter to accommodate therewith. The counterweight assembly further includes an adapter pole having a first adapter pole thread to engage with a first adapter thread of the inner bore adapter. The counterweight assembly includes a stopper and balancing ring mounted on the adapter pole, wherein the stopper and balancing ring includes counter screws to secure the stopper and balancing ring to the adapter pole. The counterweight assembly also includes a bushing positioned on one end of the adapter pole above the main body weight. The counterweight assembly further includes an Olympic weight having a central hole configured to fit around a central part of the bushing, wherein the bushing includes notches to prevent rotational movement of Olympic weight and to hold Olympic weight snugly secure.
