Abstract: The present invention relates to an artificial intelligence-based system and method for evaluat-ing the impact of bilingual education on English language proficiency. The system acquires learner interaction information from educational activities and determines usage of English and one or more supporting languages during instruction and learner responses. An English profi-ciency assessment engine evaluates multiple language dimensions including vocabulary, gram-mar, reading, listening, writing, speaking, pronunciation, fluency, sentence construction, and contextual comprehension. A longitudinal learning database stores bilingual exposure infor-mation and successive proficiency measurements over multiple learning sessions. An artificial intelligence evaluation engine processes the longitudinal information to identify relationships between bilingual instructional exposure and changes in English proficiency while considering learner-specific baseline performance and other available learning variables. The system can analyze written responses using natural language processing and spoken responses using speech- processing techniques to identify language errors, pronunciation characteristics, fluency, re-sponse latency, lexical development, and syntactic changes.
