Abstract: The present invention relates to an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based smart agriculture system for automated crop disease detection and precision irrigation. The system integrates image acquisition devices, environmental sensors, soil sensors, an edge computing unit, an Artificial Intelligence disease detection module, an irrigation decision module, and a communication interface to continuously monitor crop and field conditions. Images of crop leaves, stems, fruits, or other plant portions are captured using fixed or mobile imaging devices and processed using an AI-based image analysis model to identify disease symptoms, classify disease types, and estimate disease severity. Simultaneously, soil moisture, temperature, humidity, pH, electrical conductivity, rainfall, solar radiation, and other agricultural parameters are acquired from distributed sensors. A decision engine combines the detected disease condition, soil parameters, crop growth stage, weather information, historical irrigation records, and water availability to determine a crop-specific irrigation requirement. The system automatically controls one or more irrigation valves or pumps according to the determined requirement while avoiding over-irrigation and under-irrigation. Edge-based processing enables rapid local decisions even under limited network connectivity. The system further provides alerts, disease reports, irrigation recommendations, and historical analytics through a user interface, thereby improving water-use efficiency, reducing crop losses, and supporting precision agriculture.
