MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611108702 A) filed by Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University on September 10, 2026, for Artificial Intelligence-Based Forensic Dental Biometric Identification System And Method Thereof.

Inventors include Dr. Abhishek; Dr. Ruchi Sehrawat; Prof. Amit Prakash Singh; Prof. Jeyaseelan Augustine; and Prof. Dr. Mahesh Verma.

The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: The present invention discloses an artificial intelligence-based forensic dental biometric identification system (100) for identifying and verifying individuals from smile images. The system (100) comprises a dental image acquisition module (102), a dental region extraction module (104), an RGB masked dental representation generation module (106), and an incisal edge and geometric contour extraction module (108) for generating structural and geometric dental representations. A multimodal deep neural feature learning module (110) comprising appearance, structural, and geometric neural branches extracts dental features using convolutional neural network architectures. An adaptive attention-based multimodal fusion module (112) generates a fused representation, followed by a deep embedding generation module (114) and a metric-learning-based optimization module (116) using ArcFace loss. A multi-template forensic identity database (118) stores dental embeddings. A similarity-based identity matching module (120), ranked identity retrieval module (122), and unknown-person rejection module (124) perform cosine-similarity matching, Top-K retrieval, and threshold-based verification.
