Abstract: ABSTRACT The present invention relates to an artificial intelligence-based automated speed control and braking system (100) for vehicles operating in ghat sections. The system (100) comprises an image acquisition module (102), a preprocessing module (104), a sign detection and classification module (106), a ghat mode activation module (108), a vehicle speed monitoring module (110), a control module (112), a throttle control module (114), and a braking control module (116). The sign detection and classification module (106) utilizes an artificial intelligence model to identify ghat-entry signs and ghat-exit signs from roadway images. Upon detection of a ghat-entry sign, a terrain-specific operating mode is automatically activated, and vehicle speed is continuously monitored. When the vehicle speed exceeds a predefined threshold, the control module (112) automatically initiates throttle restriction and braking intervention in a closed-loop feedback manner. Upon detection of a ghat-exit sign, the operating mode is automatically terminated and unrestricted vehicle control is restored. The invention enhances safety in hilly and curved road environments by reducing overspeeding and driver-dependent errors.
