MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641109690 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology Hyderabad on September 12, 2026, for Aromatic Micelle-Encapsulated Copper-Based Nanocomplex And A Method Of Preparation Thereof.

Inventors include Ganesan Prabusankar; Aravind Kumar Rengan; Rakesh Kumar Rai; Kalyani Eswar; and Aishwarya Tiwari.

The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.

Abstract: The disclosure provides an aromatic micelle-encapsulated copper-based nanocomplex configured for enhanced radiosensitization under X-ray irradiation. The invention provides a host-guest complex comprising a copper(I)-based nanocomplex, Cu(NAN), solubilized within an aromatic micelle NapSO3 to form NapSO3•Cu(NAN). Upon exposure to ionizing radiation, the NapSO3•Cu(NAN) complex enhances X-ray absorption and amplifies reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation, resulting in increased radiation-induced cytotoxicity.
