Abstract: The present invention relates to a vehicle-mounted standoff detection system (100) configured to detect buried landmines (103), improvised explosive devices (IEDs) (102) and other subsurface threats ahead of a moving vehicle. The system comprises a forward-mounted detection pod incorporating an electromagnetic induction (EMI) coil array configured to detect metallic anomalies and a GPR module (203) configured to generate subsurface imaging data. Sensor outputs are processed through signal conditioning circuitry, data acquisition units and an onboard processing platform. The processing platform performs feature extraction, multi-sensor data fusion and AI-based threat classification to identify potential threats and generate threat-related information. The system further comprises a human-machine interface configured to provide visual and audio alerts and an optional vehicle communication interface configured to communicate with a vehicle control network. The detection system is configured to monitor a ground region ahead of the vehicle to provide advance warning of potential threats.
