Abstract: AquaSync – Autonomous AI Buoy for Plastic Detection and Filtration in Rivers/Wells Abstract: AquaSync is a new, low-cost buoy system that runs on solar power and works entirely on its own. It floats in rivers, lakes, ponds, or wells, searching for and scooping up both big and tiny pieces of plastic—no humans needed. At its core, there’s a small ESP32-CAM module handling real-time video, snapshots, and wireless data. It works alongside a custom-trained YOLOv8 computer vision model, so the device can spot plastic trash with surprising accuracy. A built-in GPS guides the buoy, letting it travel along set routes and cover polluted areas efficiently. When AquaSync finds plastic, it kicks in a servo-controlled vibratory net. This fine-mesh net drops into the water, and a pair of vibration motors help trap even the really small plastic bits, especially in slow-moving or still water.
