Abstract: The present invention relates to a transdermal therapeutic patch for treatment and management of trigeminal neuralgia and associated neuropathic facial pain. The patch comprises a multilayer structure including a backing layer, adhesive layer, drug-containing matrix, rate-controlling membrane, and removable liner. The drug matrix comprises lidocaine and dexamethasone configured for sustained and localized transdermal delivery. Lidocaine acts by blocking abnormal peripheral nerve signaling, while dexamethasone reduces inflammation and nerve irritation associated with trigeminal neuralgia. The invention provides prolonged analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects while minimizing systemic adverse reactions commonly associated with oral medications and invasive procedures. The patch further improves patient compliance, comfort, and therapeutic convenience through non-invasive administration. Additionally, the invention may incorporate permeation enhancers, bioadhesive polymers, and nanocarrier systems for improved drug delivery efficiency and controlled release characteristics.
