Abstract: An apparatus for real-time curvature computation, surface characterization, and three-dimensional surface reconstruction, comprising a data acquisition module to receive three-dimensional surface data as spatial samples, a preprocessing unit for surface normal estimation, a differential geometry computation unit configured to construct local coordinate frames, compute first and second fundamental forms or equivalent descriptors, and determine principal curvatures, Gaussian curvature, or mean curvature using spectral decomposition, an adaptive resolution unit configured to adjust computational resolution based on local curvature variation metrics, a tensor-field regularization unit configured to perform tensor-domain anisotropic diffusion for noise suppression while preserving geometric discontinuities, a surface reconstruction unit configured to generate continuous surface representations using regularized curvature tensor fields, and an output interface to provide curvature maps, principal direction fields, surface classifications, reconstructed three-dimensional models, and visualization or analysis support for robotics, medical imaging, computer graphics, and industrial inspection.
