Abstract: There is described an apparatus (17) for disposing of an exhausted hydrogen peroxide solution used for the sterilization of a web (3) of packaging material, the apparatus (17) with a catalytic reactor (24) configured for the catalytic decomposition of the exhausted hydrogen peroxide solution, wherein the catalytic reactor (24) comprises a housing (25) containing at least one catalyst bed and at least a supply duct (29) supplying the exhausted hydrogen peroxide solution into the housing (25), a first pipe (37) connected to the housing (25), and a second pipe (38) connected to the housing (25). The catalytic reactor (24) is configured to produce water in liquid phase drained out through the first pipe (37) and a gaseous flow of oxygen and water drained out through the second pipe (38).
