MUMBAI, India, Oct. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641119832 A) filed by Ifet College Of Engineering on October 07, 2026, for Apparatus For Adaptive Reconditioning Of Degraded Lithium-Ion Battery Cells.
Inventors include Mr. N. Sivanantham; Ms. B. Saarumugi; and Ms. M. Kiruthikadevi.
The application for the patent was published on October 09, 2026, under issue no. 41/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus for reconditioning a degraded lithium-ion battery cell (102). The apparatus comprises a diagnostic sensing unit (104), a control unit (112), a charge-discharge pulse generation circuit (114) and a power switching circuit (116). The diagnostic sensing unit (104) obtains internal resistance, voltage-recovery behaviour and capacity fade for determining a state of health of the battery cell (102). The control unit (112) sets pulse amplitude, pulse duration and rest interval according to the determined state of health and controls application of a charge-discharge pulse sequence. Following the pulse sequence, the state of health is reassessed and at least one pulse parameter of a subsequent sequence is modified according to the reassessed condition. The apparatus thereby provides condition- responsive, closed-loop electrical reconditioning of an intact lithium-ion battery cell and is applicable to assessment and reconditioning of degraded lithium-ion cells before continued use, refurbishment or recycling.
