MUMBAI, India, June 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621052727 A) filed by Sage University on April 24, 2026, for Apparatus And Method For Three-Dimensional Forensic Documentation Of A Physical Scene.

Inventors include Dr. Prashant Jain; Ms. Sakshi Agrawal; Dr. Shiv Om Pratap; Abhay Kothari; Vanshika Thakur; and Shreya Shukla.

The application for the patent was published on June 19, 2026, under issue no. 25/2026.

Abstract: ABSTRACT The present disclosure relates to three-dimensional forensic documentation of physical scenes. The apparatus (100) includes a laser range-finder (102) that emits modulated laser pulses and measures distances to surfaces within a physical scene. A plurality of rotary encoders (104) measure angular positions of the laser range-finder (102). A hardware processor (106) generates a point cloud dataset from the distance and angular measurements, then combines the point cloud dataset with texture mapping data from photographic images captured by an integrated digital camera (108) into a consolidated dataset representing an inseparable unified representation. Prior to transmission, a cryptographic coprocessor (110) integrated within the apparatus (100) generates a cryptographic hash value of the consolidated dataset and a corresponding digital signature, jointly authenticating the point cloud dataset and texture mapping data as unaltered from the time of acquisition.
