MUMBAI, India, July 30 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621067601 A) filed by Sage University on May 29, 2026, for Apparatus And Method For Multi-Modal Biometric Authentication.

Inventors include Dr. Prashant Jain; Ms. Sakshi Agrawal; Prof. Manoj Yadav; Dr. Nidhi Tiwari; Dr. Nitika Vats Doohan; Himanshi Shukla; and Ujjawal Tripathi.

The application for the patent was published on July 24, 2026, under issue no. 30/2026.

Abstract: ABSTRACT The present disclosure relates to an apparatus (102) for multi-modal biometric authentication. The apparatus (102) comprises an optical fingerprint sensor (104) having a photoplethysmography detector (106) configured to generate a pulse waveform signal reflecting blood volume changes in living tissue. A liveness detection circuit (110) detects periodic components within a physiological frequency range and generates a liveness verification signal. A biometric matching circuit (112) comprising a hardware cryptography accelerator (114) compares biometric feature vectors against encrypted biometric templates upon receipt of the liveness verification signal and generates a quality assessment signal upon digital image data failing to meet a predetermined quality threshold. An iris authentication circuit (116) activates a near-infrared camera assembly (108) upon receipt of the quality assessment signal and generates an authentication result signal based on iris feature vectors over a local hardware interface.
