MUMBAI, India, June 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621048501 A) filed by Sage University on April 16, 2026, for Apparatus And Method For Monitoring Metabolites In Cell Culture Medium Within A Bioreactor.

Inventors include Dr. Prashant Jain; Ms. Sakshi Agrawal; Dr. Smruti Sohani; and Dr. Akash Singh Pawar.

The application for the patent was published on June 12, 2026, under issue no. 24/2026.

Abstract: ABSTRACT The present disclosure relates to apparatus and methods for monitoring metabolites in cell culture medium within a bioreactor. The apparatus (100) includes an optical probe assembly (102) capable of performing near-infrared, Raman, and fluorescence measurements, connected to a MCU (104). The MCU (104) activates the optical probe assembly (102) in a sequential and non-overlapping manner to collect near-infrared measurement signals, Raman spectral data, and fluorescence emission signals from the cell culture medium. The MCU (104) analyses the received signals to determine glucose concentration, lactate concentration, protein concentration, cell density, and metabolic state of cells. The MCU (104) generates output data indicating these determined parameters for controlling nutrient supply to the bioreactor. By integrating three complementary spectroscopic techniques through sequential, non-overlapping activation, the apparatus (100) provides comprehensive, real-time metabolic monitoring while avoiding signal interference between measurement modalities.
