MUMBAI, India, June 30 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621022379 A) filed by Sage University on February 25, 2026, for Apparatus And Method For Industrial Effluent Treatment By Electrocoagulation.
Inventors include Ms. Sakshi Agrawal; Dr. Prachi Gour; Prof. Priyanka Rajput; Raj Lodhi; and Dawkore Shivam Rajeshwar.
The application for the patent was published on June 26, 2026, under issue no. 26/2026.
Abstract: ABSTRACT An apparatus (102) for industrial effluent treatment by electrocoagulation comprises a turbidity sensor (104), a reactor chamber (106), electrode plates (108), a hardware processor (110), and a polarity reversal assembly (112). The hardware processor (110) receives a turbidity measurement signal from the turbidity sensor (104) indicating contamination level in industrial effluent and determines a required current density value for electrode dissolution based on the contamination level. The hardware processor (110) generates a control signal for regulating electrode dissolution rate and generates a polarity reversal command after a predetermined operating duration. The polarity reversal assembly (112) periodically reverses electrical polarity applied to the electrode plates (108) to prevent passivation layer formation. The apparatus (102) achieves extended electrode lifespan, reduced sludge generation, and continuous operation through integration of turbidity-based dynamic current density control and automated polarity reversal for passivation prevention.
