Abstract: ABSTRACT The present disclosure relates to an apparatus and method for hardware-level multi-language linguistic feature extraction with runtime memory optimisation. The apparatus (102) comprises a language detection circuit (104) configured to receive unstructured text input, determine a source language of the received unstructured text input, and generate a language activation signal corresponding to the determined source language. A plurality of linguistic feature extraction circuits (106) operatively coupled to the language detection circuit (104) selectively load, using the language activation signal, native-script linguistic feature patterns of the determined source language into a pattern buffer cache (108) of a memory (110). The plurality of linguistic feature extraction circuits (106) deactivate all non- corresponding language-specific pattern sets in the pattern buffer cache (108). The cooperative operation bounds runtime memory resource utilisation to a single language-specific pattern set per classification operation across a plurality of scheduled languages. FIG. 1
