Abstract: ABSTRACT The present disclosure relates to field-deployable cell sorting using battery-powered dielectrophoresis. The apparatus (102) includes a disposable microfluidic chip (104) having a microchannel (106) and interdigitated electrodes (108), an H-bridge driver circuit (110) generating bipolar voltage waveforms from a battery source, and a hardware processor (112) communicatively coupled to an external imaging device (114). Upon detecting chip insertion via electrical contacts (116) of a chip mounting interface (118) engaging electrode pads (120), the processor (112) activates the H-bridge driver circuit (110) at a first frequency, causing viable cells to undergo positive dielectrophoresis and accumulate at edges of the plurality of interdigitated electrodes (108). Switching to a lower second frequency induces negative dielectrophoresis, detaching accumulated viable cells. The processor (112) triggers image capture by the external imaging device (114) and outputs a viability result indicating a viable cell count and viability percentage enabling battery-operated cell viability analysis in field environments.
