Abstract: ABSTRACT An apparatus for currency authentication with interchangeable sensor assembly includes a printed circuit board (102) on a single unified board with a standardized connector footprint (104) defining a common electrical interface and a magneto resistive sensor integrated circuit (106). A modular sensor assembly (108) removably engages the standardized connector footprint (104), accepting interchangeable sensor variants of alternative component configurations. A housing (110) includes a lower base (112) with snap-fit engagement tabs (118) and an upper cover (114) with snap-fit tab receptacles (120), providing tool-less access to the modular sensor assembly (108) upon disengagement. A hardware processor (122) on the printed circuit board (102) acquires optical signals from the modular sensor assembly (108) and magnetic field strength values from the magneto resistive sensor integrated circuit (106), computes an authentication score based on the acquired signals and values, and generates a currency authenticity determination indicating whether a currency note is authentic.
