Abstract: ABSTRACT An apparatus (100) for conducting offline digital payment transactions comprises a secure element circuit (130) storing cryptographic keys for authenticating offline digital payment transactions. A plurality of standardized modular connectors (106) interfacing with the secure element circuit (130). A snap-fit enclosure assembly (108) comprising a bottom housing half (110) and a top housing half (112) configured to engage and disengage via a plurality of integrally moulded snap features. A release tab (124) moulded integrally with the snap-fit enclosure assembly (108) is mechanically coupled to a connector ejection member (140) where actuation of the release tab (124) drives the connector ejection member (140) to mechanically disconnect the interchangeable subsystem variant from the plurality of standardized modular connectors (106) before the bottom housing half (110) and the top housing half (112) separate, preserving the cryptographic keys stored in the secure element circuit (130).
