MUMBAI, India, July 30 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621069159 A) filed by Sage University on June 02, 2026, for Apparatus And Method For Biometric Attendance Authentication.
Inventors include Ms. Sakshi Agrawal; Dr. Prashant Jain; Prof. P. K. Gautam; Prof. Jeetesh K Jain; Balar Vansh; and Rachit Singh Dhakar.
The application for the patent was published on July 24, 2026, under issue no. 30/2026.
Abstract: ABSTRACT The present disclosure relates to biometric attendance authentication. The apparatus (100) includes a capacitive fingerprint sensor (106) that captures a fingerprint image, and an impedance measurement circuit (108) that applies an alternating current excitation signal through a finger to measure resistive and reactive electrical properties. A microcontroller (104) receives the fingerprint image and impedance signal within a same measurement window, computing a liveness score by comparing electrical properties against stored impedance threshold ranges for living human fingertip tissue. Geographic coordinates from a GPS receiver (110) are evaluated against a stored geofence boundary. The liveness score and geographic coordinates, generate an authentication decision (206). A tamper-resistant cryptographic integrated circuit (112) digitally signs a biometric data record using a device-unique cryptographic key (314), producing a signed biometric data block transmitted by a cellular modem (114) to a remote authentication server (116), preventing spoofing and location fraud in attendance systems.
