MUMBAI, India, July 30 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621070224 A) filed by Sage University on June 04, 2026, for Apparatus And Method For Biometric Attendance Authentication With Solar-Power.
Inventors include Dr. Prashant Jain; Ms. Sakshi Agrawal; Prof. Sapna Patel; Prof. Shaziya Siddiqui; Yuvraj Singh Kushwah; and Vikash Bilade.
The application for the patent was published on July 24, 2026, under issue no. 30/2026.
Abstract: ABSTRACT The present disclosure relates to biometric attendance authentication powered by solar energy. The apparatus (100) includes solar photovoltaic panel (102) charging a rechargeable battery (104) through a charge controller circuit (106) that regulates charging current. A fingerprint sensor (108) captures fingerprint images, and a microcontroller (110) extracts minutiae features and compares them against fingerprint templates stored in non-volatile memory (112) to generate a similarity score. Upon the similarity score exceeding a threshold, an attendance event is recorded to the non-volatile memory (112). A cellular modem (118) transmits attendance events via internet data connectivity or a messaging protocol over GSM cellular service. The microcontroller (110) retains the cellular modem (118) in a powered-down state between periodic activation intervals, enabling on-device fingerprint matching without continuous modem operation. The architecture allows the rechargeable battery (104) charged by the solar photovoltaic panel (102) to sustain apparatus (100) operation independently of external power infrastructure. FIG. 1
