MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511016494 A) filed by Vivek Aggarwal; and Mamta Singla on February 25, 2025, for Antibacterial Endodontic Irrigant With Dual-Action Nanoparticles.

Inventors include Vivek Aggarwal; and Mamta Singla.

The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.

Abstract: The present invention provides an antibacterial endodontic irrigant incorporating a dual-action nanoparticle system to improve root canal disinfection. The irrigant formulation includes silver nanoparticles, lysozyme-coated nanoparticles, chlorhexidine, and EDTA, ensuring enhanced bacterial penetration, prolonged antimicrobial activity, and biofilm degradation. The enzyme-coated nanoparticles selectively degrade biofilms, exposing bacteria to silver ions and chlorhexidine, while EDTA aids in smear layer removal. This innovative approach offers improved root canal disinfection, reduced reinfection risk, and enhanced treatment success.
