MUMBAI, India, July 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611059430 A) filed by Gla University, Mathura on May 10, 2026, for Antibacterial Coating System Using Natural Extracts.

Inventor includes Dr. Vibhav Varshney.

The application for the patent was published on July 17, 2026, under issue no. 29/2026.

Abstract: ANTIBACTERIAL COATING SYSTEM USING NATURAL EXTRACTS Abstract The present invention relates to an antibacterial coating system (100) using natural plant extracts is disclosed for producing an antibacterial coated surface (113). The system comprises a natural extract preparation unit (101) for extracting bioactive compounds from plant materials (102) through extraction and filtration (103) to obtain natural extracts (104). The extracts are mixed with a polymer binder (106) in a mixing unit (105) to form a coating formulation (107), which is further homogenized in a coating formulation preparation unit (108). The formulation is applied onto a substrate (132) using a coating application unit (109) and subsequently dried and cured in a drying unit (111) having an oven/dryer (112). The natural extracts (104), containing compounds such as curcumin, eugenol, allicin, and azadirachtin, impart antimicrobial properties by inhibiting bacterial growth. The invention provides an eco-friendly, cost-effective, and efficient solution for producing durable antibacterial coatings for diverse surfaces.
