MUMBAI, India, July 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411097011 A) filed by Mercedes-Benz Group AG on December 09, 2024, for Anti-Trap Window Safety System For Vehicle And Method Thereof.

Inventors include Hiteshi Jain; Shuaib Ahmed; and Keerthi Kamath.

The application for the patent was published on July 24, 2026, under issue no. 30/2026.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides an explainable anti-trap window safety system (100) and method (200) for a vehicle (1000). The method (200) receives (202A, 202B) textual data and image frames pertaining to a window path of the vehicle (1000) as an input, and generates (206A, 206B) a text embedding and an image embedding. The method (200) extracts (208) a vehicle boundary mask indicating boundary regions that require a prioritized attention from the image frames, and defines (210) attention scores for the boundary regions. The method (200) modulates (212) the image embedding by applying the attention scores to emphasize the boundary regions, and aligning (214) the embeddings to determine (216) a similarity score. The method (200) includes generating (218) an alert signal to notify a user associated with the vehicle (1000), during an obstruction detected in a window path of the vehicle (1000), when the similarity score exceeds a predetermined threshold limit.
