MUMBAI, India, Oct. 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621099610 A) filed by Dr. D. Y. Patil Institute Of Technology, Pimpri, Pune on August 18, 2026, for Animal Intrusion Detection System (aids) For Vehicles.

Inventor includes Mr. Sunilkumar Harsur.

The application for the patent was published on October 02, 2026, under issue no. 40/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an Animal Intrusion Detection System (AIDS) for Vehicles, designed to detect, identify, and provide an immediate alert upon the unexpected entry or presence of animals inside a parked or stationary vehicle. The system addresses safety, hygiene, and vehicle-protection concerns associated with unnoticed animal intrusion, particularly in situations where animals such as dogs, cats, rodents, reptiles, or other small animals enter the passenger compartment, engine compartment, luggage area, or other accessible portions of a vehicle. The system comprises one or more sensing units, including motion sensors, Passive Infrared (PIR) sensors, infrared sensors, ultrasonic sensors, temperature sensors, cameras, or image-recognition modules, positioned at suitable locations within the vehicle. The sensing units continuously or periodically monitor predefined areas of the vehicle for movement, thermal signatures, characteristic body patterns, or other parameters indicative of animal presence. A processing and control unit receives the sensor signals, evaluates the detected conditions, and differentiates an actual animal intrusion from normal environmental variations or predetermined vehicle activities. Upon confirming an intrusion, the control unit activates an alert mechanism comprising an audible alarm, visual indicator, vibration or notification device. In an embodiment, the system further includes a wireless communication module, such as GSM, cellular, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or an Internet-of-Things (IoT) communication interface, for transmitting an alert notification to a vehicle owner, driver, security personnel, or other authorized user. The system may additionally incorporate a rechargeable battery or auxiliary power source, low-power operating modes, data logging, and configurable detection thresholds to achieve energy-efficient and reliable operation. The compact architecture enables installation in new vehicles as well as retrofitting into existing vehicle systems without substantial modification. The invention thereby provides an automated, cost-effective, and scalable solution for reducing vehicle damage, preventing hygiene-related risks, improving occupant safety, and enabling timely intervention following unexpected animal intrusion.
